Narrative: Jacob's Ladder takes its inspiration from the biblical story of the same name. Jacob's Ladder is the connection between the earth and heaven that the biblical Patriarch Jacob dreams about during his flight from his brother Esau, as described in the Book of Genesis. In this piece I have represented this reach toward heaven with an actual ladder, being claimed by black marks which represent black-cloaked monks - some of whom are falling from the ladder. To the right of the ladder can be seen binary code hidden in the background. This binary is not random numbers, but instead is a translation into binary verses from the Bible related to the perils of following blindly. I link this concept to technology and the impact social media is having upon society today.
